One of the questions we get asked most often is: "Where did the name Black Fox come from?"
Most accountancy firms are named after the founders. You know the sort of thing: Fencer, Pardoner & Chickens. Perfectly respectable, but perhaps not the most memorable.
Black Fox is a little different. The story starts with two Labradors….Meet Reggie and Bailey, Susan's two dogs.

Reggie is a fox red Labrador who turns 11 this September. He was chosen when he was just a few weeks old because, while the rest of the litter were charging around causing chaos, Reggie sat quietly watching from the sidelines.
Not much has changed. According to Susan.
"I chose Reggie because he was the calm, quiet puppy sat watching all the other boisterous ones. He's still the quiet one now."
That said, don't mistake quiet for lazy. Anyone knocking at the door or daring to walk past the back of the house will soon discover Reggie's security credentials remain firmly intact.
His official pedigree name was apparently Hilton Farm Bullfinch which, thankfully, never made it onto the company letterhead.

Then there's Bailey……Bailey is Reggie's son and recently turned five. A lockdown puppy, he's named after Sue's mum's surname and possesses rather more enthusiasm than his father. Or, as Sue puts it "He's a nutcase!".
Every walk starts with what can only be described as a full pre-match warm-up routine. Bailey spins in circles, jumps over fences, runs backwards and generally behaves like he's won the lottery before eventually charging off across the fields. He also has an unhealthy obsession with fetch.

Between them, these two Labradors provided the inspiration for the firm's name. One fox red Labrador. One black Labrador. Black. Fox. And that was it.
When our business started we immediately saw the opportunity to build a brand around that story. Rather than another professional services firm with a traditional surname based name, we had something distinctive, memorable and uniquely ours. That led to the creation of the fox logo which has become synonymous with Black Fox today.
The fox appears throughout our offices, our marketing and our social media. It has become a recognisable part of who we are.

But behind every brand is a story. And behind Black Fox are Reggie and Bailey. The real founders of the firm.
